ENFORCERS of Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Western Visayas Region apprehended two colorum vans at Barangay Sampinit in Bago City, Negros Occidental Tuesday night.
The vehicles were on its way to southern Negros Occidental.
Paul Garcia, LTO-Bacolod Law Enforcement and Traffic Adjudication service officer, said the violations of the two commuter vans include engaging in colorum operation, failure to wear prescribed seat belts both the driver and front seat passenger, and no temporary plate attached to the vehicle.
One of the vans, which was driven by Roberto Del Mondo Gepes, was leased to John Simon Guevarra of Bacolod City.
When the van passed by Crossing Kamatis, it was flagged down by LTO enforcers.
The van was boarded by four passengers including a baby. They were charged with fines ranging from P30 to P150.
The other van, owned by Yen Cruz of Bacolod, was driven by Francisco Javier of Escalante City. The van with 18 passengers from Bacolod was on its way to Hinigaran and Himamaylan City.
Garcia said investigation is still ongoing. “If proven (guilty), the owners will be charged P200,000 each,” he said.
The impounded vans were brought to the LTO-Bacolod Office.
