MALICIOUS mischief charges were filed before the Bacolod City Prosecutor's Office on November 29 against eight construction workers who forcibly entered Bacolod Bunny Ranch at Goldenfield Commercial Complex on the same day.
Charged were John Paul Rama, 24; Vicente Vigor, 31; and Jonathan Dieta, 46, all of Barangay Luboc, Iloilo; Rodrigo Alingasa, 47, and Erol Delgado, 25, both of Cadiz City, Negros Occidental; and Bacolod residents Donald Carampatana, 36, and Jay Demandar, 34, both of Barangay Alijis, and Joseph Baykin, 55, of Barangay Singcang-Airport.
Chief Inspector Ruel Culanag, head of Police Station 8, said the eight suspects will be released from detention once Taiwanese nationals Hansuan Chang and Yi Yu Chen, who hired them, will post bail for them on Friday, December 1.
Tension arose at the area when the two Taiwanese nationals who own the establishment with Filipino Joseph Nazareno arrived and reportedly ordered the eight suspects to destroy the portion of the glass door using a hammer so they can take over the establishment.
However, when policemen arrived, the eight suspects were obliged to leave the establishment while the Taiwanese nationals were waiting outside.
Culanag said they also filed robbery and grave coercion charges against the eight men, but the City Prosecutor's Office did not accept it because the two Taiwanese nationals are considered part of the business operations.
The incident was apparently triggered by a conflict between Nazareno and his Taiwanese co-owners.
Culanag said the two Taiwanese nationals were not placed under police custody as they do not have direct participation in damaging the properties even if they ordered their workers to forcibly enter the bar.
