CEBU (Updated with corrections) -- Police arrested a longboarder for stabbing a pregnant woman and a minor to death while he was reportedly high on drugs at a beach resort in Barangay Solangon, San Juan, Siquijor last Sunday night.

Suspect Michael Añabesa Manayon, 34, allegedly used six knives in attacking Loreen Ramirez, 17, and Nikki Pinero, who was three months pregnant, inside the house of the Bruce Resort’s owner.

Manayon, a Lapu-Lapu City resident, participated in the international longboarding contest held in the town. He is a friend of Ramirez’s (not Pinero's as earlier stated) boyfriend.

Police have called the attention of the organizers for allegedly not requesting security for the event.

PO2 Reck Chel Perez, San Juan police assistant investigator, said that Pinero’s female companion, Carla Jean (not her real name), saw Manayon stab Ramirez first. Pinero, 21, had the chance to escape, but she opted to stay and help Ramirez, who was still breathing.

Carla Jean ran, shouted at Pinero to hide, before she hid in one of the rooms.

She later heard Pinero scream, then fall silent. Manayon left the house and roamed the beachfront restlessly.

Carla Jean came out, stunned at the sight of her friend lying near Ramirez, their blood moving across the floor. She screamed.

Perez, in a phone interview, said a team of police officers arrested Manayon, who yielded a pack containing dried marijuana leaves.

Nagsiyagit-siyagit pa na siya. Magpapusil daw siya (He was screaming, saying he wanted to be shot),” he said.

Manayon, in an interview with investigators, admitted he planned to kill Ramirez's boyfriend, after the latter threatened to inform the police that he had marijuana.

Before the attack happened at 11 p.m., Manayon was seen in his hammock, about 20 meters from the resort owner’s house where Pinero and Ramirez were talking.

Pinero and Carla Jean, both from Dumaguete City, were in the place to check on their boyfriends who are longboard enthusiasts. Ramirez accompanied his boyfriend, who also joined the contest.

Carla Jean had planned to stay in her relative’s house in Larena, before Manayon stabbed the victims. The suspect barged inside the kitchen, grabbed a knife and stabbed Ramirez several times. He then turned to Pinero.

Manayon will be charged with double murder and possession of illegal drugs today.

(CORRECTION: Contrary to the statement earlier released by the police, friends and relatives of the victims said Manayon planned to kill Ramirez's boyfriend, not Pinero's boyfriend.)
