A MAN in Negros Oriental ended his own life after killing his five relatives Friday morning, February 17, at their house in Sitio Mabigo, Barangay Lag-it in Tayasan town, Negros Oriental.
Senior Superintendent Henry Biñas, acting provincial director of Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Norppo), said over the weekend that Walbet Amihoy, 40, was believed to be behind the killings, based on initial investigation.
Amihoy committed suicide after stabbing his relatives to death, Biñas added.
The fatalities were identified as Amihoy’s mother, Feliza Amihoy, 60, and his brother Decoy Amihoy, 22.
Also dead were Decoy Amihoy’s partner, Eubisita Guillepa, 54; her children Marilou Golez, 14, and Rhea Mae Guillepa, 8.
Biñas said a 15-inch knife was found beside Walbet Amihoy’s body, adding that there was no forcible entry.
The five victims succumbed to multiple stab and hack wounds, while Walbet Amihoy died due to a lone stab wound.
Their bodies were found by a neighbor around 7:30 a.m., police said.
Another neighbor heard a woman cry for help around 1 a.m.
It was already afternoon when the policemen arrived since the victims’ house was situated in a far-flung area, near the boundary of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental.
Biñas said Walbet Amihoy had not been eating since his stepfather died on February 14. (VoxPop Bacolod)
