A RESIDENT of Murcia, Negros Occidental shot to death an e-trike driver allegedly having an affair with his partner in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City Tuesday morning.
Killed was Rommel Reyes, 36, of Barangay Blumentrit, also in Murcia.
Senior Inspector Ramel Sarona, head of Police Station 7, said Rommel Ayson, 24, was onboard a motorcycle when he fired at Reyes at close range at 8:05 a.m. on Venus Street at Hillside Subdivision.
Reyes succumbed to two gunshot wounds in his head and shoulder.
Investigators recovered from the scene three fired cartridges and bullets of an improvised .38 caliber revolver.
The assailant was arrested at the house of his partner’s parents in Barangay Taculing during a hot pursuit operation at 12:30 p.m.
Police recovered from him the firearm he used to commit the crime.
Sarona said they were able to trace the whereabouts of Ayson through the witnesses who identified him.
Sarona said Ayson killed Reyes after learning that his partner was allegedly having an affair with the victim.
Ayson admitted the crime, saying that he planned to kill Reyes and had been looking for him since Monday.
Charges for murder and violation of Republic Act 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act will be filed against Ayson on Wednesday, Sarona said.
The suspect is detained at the station.
