A 20-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on Tuesday morning, October 3, after he allegedly attempted to rape his neighbor, an 18-year-old college student.
Police Officer 2 Jorge Tapales said the Women and Children's Protection Desk (WCPD) personnel caught Christian Belano in his workplace in Barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City, Cebu.
Belano admitted he had drunk liquor before the incident.
The victim, who was with WCPD personnel, positively identified Belano as the one who tried to rape her in an alley in Upper Barangay Jugan, Consolacion past 11 p.m. Monday, October 2.
Before the incident, she rode on a motorcycle-for-hire and dismounted near the alley.
She walked alone in the alley when the suspect suddenly grabbed her and started kissing her.
She started shouting but the suspect covered her mouth.
The victim bit his hand and ran to her house. She reported the incident to the police on the following day.
The suspect will be charged with attempted rape on Wednesday, October 4, before the Office of the Cebu Provincial Prosecutor in Cebu City. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
