THE Malacañan declared March 17 as a special non-working day in Davao City to give Dabawenyos full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the 80th Araw ng Dabaw.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, on behalf of President Rodrigo Duterte, signed Proclamation 166 last February 24.
The proclamation was received by Davao City Hall last Monday, 2:34 p.m.
The Davao City Information Office said through the declaration, Dabawenyos get an extra day to celebrate the festival which is set on March 16 every year and is declared a non-working holiday since 1994.
Section 2 of Republic Act 7865 states that March 16 of every year is declared as a special non-working public holiday in Davao City.
March 17 is also called “Araw ng Pasasalamat.”
The special non-working holiday was requested for approval of President Rodrigo Duterte two weeks ago after it was approved by the City Council.
