CEBU CITY -- Marriott Cebu officially announced Wednesday, September 27, the merger of two iconic giants in the hospitality industry, Marriott International and Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
Cleofe Albiso, Cebu City Marriott Hotel Director of Sales and Marketing, said the merger was made official on Friday, September 23.
The merger expands Marriott hotels to include 30 of the most prestigious hotel brands with the addition of the Starwood Hotels & Resorts portfolio.
Albiso said the merger now brings 5,700 hotels and 1.1 million rooms in over 110 countries across the globe under Marriott's portfolio.
The Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Bulgari Hotels & Resorts, JW Marriott, The Luxury Collection, W. Hotels and Edition define a new era of luxury travel with dynamic brands such as Westin, Renaissance, and Autograph Collection occupying an evolving lifestyle category.
Premium brands like Marriott Hotels and Sheraton anchor the portfolio in providing a broad array of choices around the world for business and leisure travel.
In the local scene, Marriott will also be opening The Courtyard in Iloilo while JW Marriott in Palawan is now in the pipeline.
Another JW Marriott that will be constructed in Mactan, Cebu, is now under discussion, Albiso said.
Cebu Marriott will also be undergoing soft refurbishment, in time for the hotels 20th year in Cebu City in February next year.
Albiso said all these developments will further support Cebu Marriott Hotel's strength of putting people first and its appreciation to its associates.
They are also coming up with creative activities that will provide a relaxed and fun-filled evenings.
Albiso said Marriott's acquisition of Starwood Hotels and Resorts will surely level up the hospitality industry that will provide the best service and consumer experience. (Mildred V. Galarpe)
