Marvil: Council to probe Malcolm Square flooring

THE City Council during last Monday’s regular session acted on a post of a netizen on social media revealing the condition of the flooring of the newly rehabilitated Malcolm Square.

The council thru Vice Mayor Edison Bilog has summoned the City Buildings and Architectures Office, the City Engineering Office and the contractor of the said project to appear before them during their regular session on July 17, 2017.

Bilog said he personally conducted an ocular inspection of the said place and ascertained that the flooring is already dilapidated prompting him to invite the said personalities in aid of legislation.

Meanwhile, the City Council approved a resolution supporting the various media organizations in their call to preserve the Cordillera House at Lualhati Barangay and maintain it as an office of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA-CAR) and as a media center.

The Executive Secretary, through Deputy Executive Secretary Rizalina Justol had earlier issued a letter to the PIA Director General that they plan to develop the Mansion Guest House Complex where the Cordillera House, considered as a heritage area and a historical landmark and where the PIA-CAR has been holding office since 2005 and convert it into a cottage for the Executive Secretary.

The resolution further quantified the support to the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club and the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines-Baguio Benguet Chapter and likewise stated to furnish copies for consideration to the Office of His Excellency President Rodrigo Duterte, the Office of the Executive Secretary and other concerned government agencies.
