AN ACTIVE police and two others were caught by the Mati City Police Station and Philippine Drugs Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Davao Region in a drug bust operation last Saturday, January 21, at Camansi, Barangay Badas, Mati City.
Police Officer 1 Kenneth Gervir Casane, assigned at the Mati City Police Station, was relieved of his duties and issued weapons were recalled.
The other two suspects were identified as Ricky Namoc Masisay and Jomairah Adar Espina, both of whom are coming from the barangay where the drug bust happened.
Casane was allegedly accompanied by the two when they were selling drugs to a poseur buyer.
Police Regional Office (PRO) Davao Regional Director, Chief Superintendent Manuel Gaerlan instructed the recall of PO1 Casane’s issued firearm, PNP ID, PNP badge and temporarily turned-over to supply section of Mati City Police Station for safe keeping.
Three pieces small elongated heat sealed transparent plastic containing white crystalline substance of suspected "shabu," marked money, and other drug paraphernalia were confiscated from the three.
Gaerlan vowed that they will uphold the law and won't show any "mercy" even though Casane is a police officer and to continue in their campaign against illegal drugs and cleaning their ranks in the police.
"We are serious in our fight against illegal drugs and we will continue to clean our ranks. We will show no mercy to those police officers who will be found guilty of pushing, using and recycling of illegal drugs," he said.
"They have no right to be in the organization, not only will they be dismissed but they will also face criminal charges," he added.
The police are set to file a case on the three for violating Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Casane also faces administrative cases and the possibility of being booted out of his job.
