SALVADOR Benedicto Mayor Laurence Marxlen de la Cruz denied on Wednesday any involvement in the boundary dispute between two occupants of structures within the North Negros Natural Park in Spur 23, Barangay Kumaliskis.
De la Cruz said the accusations hurled against him by Cecilia Catalan that he is behind Rodrigo Bacos’s actions is unfair.
On July 31, a strafing incident happened at house of Catalan allegedly carried out by Bacos. Catalan and her caretaker Tranquilino Dollantes were allegedly threatened by Catalan before the incident, according to the police report.
Bacos is now detained at the Negros Occidental District Jail for the charge of illegal possession of firearms after the police recovered unlicensed firearms from his possession.
Catalan said that Bacos had identified De la Cruz as his boss, adding that Bacos and other known personalities are interested in the 28 hectares of land in her possession she acquired by buying the rights in 1987.
She added that she and Dollentes will file criminal charges for grave threat and frustrated murder against Bacos on Monday.
rDe la Cruz said that while it is true that Bacos is his supporter, he still should answer for the offense he committed.
In fact, he immediately ordered town police chief, Chief Senior Inspector Joevito Bose, to arrest and detain Bacos when he was informed of the incident.
“Although he is my follower, I don’t tolerate such offense,” De la Cruz added.
