SUPERINTENDENT Noel Polines was permanently assigned as chief of Silay City Police Station in Negros Occidental effective Monday, August 14.
Silay City Mayor Mark Golez said on Monday that he personally chose Polines, who also hails from Silay.
Polines replaced Superintendent D’ Artagnan Katalbas, who was assigned as caretaker of the police station in a temporary capacity, after Golez requested for the relief of Superintendent Willy Diel two weeks ago.
Polines was previously assigned at Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO). He served as chief of Police Stations 2 and 6, and as operations branch head of BCPO. He was also the BCPO public information officer before his move to Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office.
Golez said Polines met with him and the people of Silay during the flag- raising ceremony at the City Hall Monday.
The mayor ordered Polines to continue the fight against illegal drugs, illegal gambling, and maintain peace and order by intensifying the anti-criminality campaign to prevent hold-up incidents.
Polines said he was grateful to be chosen as the police chief of his hometown.
P250,000 in drugs seized
Meanwhile, during the 10-day stint of Katalbas, the Silay police arrested Felmer Solano, 37, and John Anthony Talib, 21, both residents of Barangay Mambulac in a drug bust at Centerville Subdivision in Barangay Guinhalaran on Friday.
Police seized 12 sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P250,000, the P200 marked money, drug paraphernalia, and P400 cash.
Solano is under the city’s drugs watchlist while Talib is a newly-identified drug personality.
