BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia appealed to the public to stop false bomb threats to avoid causing fear and panic.
“Those people are wasting so much government energy and time,” Leonardia said.
On Wednesday, a traveling bag left unattended at the Bacolod City public plaza triggered a bomb scare.
After two hours of validation, authorities declared the area negative of bomb.
Leonardia said making a false bomb threat brings inconvenience and causes fear to the public.
“Those who are making false bomb threat could face charges,” he said.
He added though that the public should be vigilant and report presence of suspicious persons and objects to the authorities.
Leonardia also ordered Senior Superintendent Flynn Dongbo, acting director of Bacolod City Police, to study the security measures that will be implemented during the MassKara Festival next month.
Dongbo earlier said that he will ask for augmentation personnel from Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region.
