THERE is only one sad scene that I see in tomorrow’s fight: That Manny Pacquiao gets knocked out.
And that’s going to happen because of a lucky punch from Jeff Horn in faraway Brisbane, Australia.
I cannot think of any other way that Pacquiao could lose in the “Battle of Brisbane.”
Pacquiao is an eight-division world champion and Horn has got nothing but looks.
Pacquiao is an 11-time world titlist and Horn has got nothing but a diploma in education.
And as to Horn being a school teacher in his native Brisbane, Pacquiao joked: “He may be a teacher, but I am going to be his teacher in the ring.”
I hope Pacquiao keeps his promise.
Because that will definitely produce wonders for him.
Look, by acting as a teacher, Pacquiao will be methodical.
He will not rush things and instead, he will break down his strategy and tactics as to be so scientific as much as possible. Walang bara-bara, bay.
Meaning, Pacquiao will not resort to a slam bang affair as only an inexperienced fighter is wont to do.
Pacquiao is so experienced by now he won’t fall for that trap.
With 67 fights across his name in more than two decades of beak-busting, Pacquiao, 38, is like being equipped with a doctorate in boxing already.
If Pacquiao used to be on an attack mode all the time, he has mellowed as to do things now mostly in deliberate fashion.
In Horn, Pacquiao could be a fighting someone too hungry for fame he’d do everything to realize a once in a lifetime dream.
That’s actually the main danger: Horn, 29, throwing everything as this is his one and only shot at stardom—and fortune.
Is Pacquiao fully aware of this?
To be sure, Pacquiao, the heavy favorite, is fighting to keep his legacy, his legend.
But to Horn, history is there for the taking. A win will make him the author of probably “The Upset of The Century.”
With just one lucky punch, Horn would suddenly be on top of the world.
Pacquiao has knocked out 38 of his 59 victims compared to Horn’s only 11 KO wins.
And, as I keep saying, Horn’s victims were suspect. Not even one of his 17 protagonists was world-rated.
But Horn’s a lucky mate as not everybody is given the chance of a lifetime.
With this as his battle cry, Horn could prove dangerous.
