A TALK on "Mercy as Pillar of Pope Francis' Pontificate" will be given by Rev. Fr. Antonio Spadaro on March 17, Friday, at 3 p.m. at the Oakridge Business Park in Mandaue City.
Spadaro is editor-in-chief of La Civiltá Catolica (Catholic Civilization), a periodical published in Rome by the Jesuits that is among the oldest Catholic-Italian publications. He was invited to the Philippines as a speaker in a Jesuit conference reflecting on the mission on the Church in Asia entitled "Frontiers, Dialogue and Discernment in Asian Contexts" on March 16.
Fr. Jose Quilongquilong S.J., president of the Loyola School of Theology in Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City, said he invited Spadaro to visit Cebu as well in view of the upcoming 500th anniversary of Evangelization in the Philippines where Cebu figures as the cradle of Christianity.
The talk is open to educators, religious formators, clergy and heads of Church-mandated organizations in the Archdiocese of Cebu.
