WITH four days left before Ceres Negros FC leaves for Myanmar to play its first international match in the 2018 AFC Champions League Qualifiers, the club has completed its new recruits with Mike Rigoberto Ott – Manny Ott’s younger brother.
The younger Ott also suited up for the national men’s team scoring two goals in 12 appearances and last played for the Angthong Football Club in Thai League 2, booking seven goals in 21 outings.
He also saw action with 1. FC Nürnberg II in Germany from 2014-2017 scoring eight goals in 52 appearances, and TSV 1860 Munich II from 2012-2014 connecting 12 goals in 25 games.
The 22-year-old Fil-German midfielder is a huge addition to the reigning AFC Asean Zonal champion because of his quickness and ability to pass through his defenders.
Earlier, Ceres FC signed veteran Spanish goalkeeper Antonio “Toni” Doblas, who will take the place of Roland Muller, along with defenders Sean Patrick Kane and Amani Aguinaldo, who are expected to fortify Ceres FC backline. Although Aguinaldo is still nursing a knee injury, the club has assured him of advanced medical treatment for his fast recovery.
Japanese striker Takumi Uesato, who scored 15 goals for JPV Marikina, is an additional firepower and expected to compliment Bienvenido Marañon upfront. He will also fill up the space left by Fernando Rodriguez.
Meanwhile, FC Meralco Manila late Monday has announced to cease its operations and will no longer participate in the second season of the Philippines Football League.
According to the Sparks management, they tried to arrange for new investors that would keep the organization running, but those efforts fell short.
“We sincerely apologize to our fans, and thank them for all the support over the last seven years,” the club said in a statement.
The management added is currently in search for new teams for our players.
“These amazing athletes and people deserve to continue plying their trade, and we will do all in our power to find them new clubs,” the club concluded.
