A MEMBER of the government militia was wounded in an ambush by suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits in the island province of Basilan, the military said.
Major Filemon Tan Jr., Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) spokesman, said the incident occurred around 12:20 p.m., Saturday, at Sitio Bunkhouse in the village of Limbo Candis, Sumisip, Basilan.
Tan identified the wounded militiaman as Gajalal Hatiman of Limbo Candis village.
Tan said Hatiman was aboard a truck together with other militiamen and Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team members on the way to Manggal village, Sumisip, when a group of Abu Sayyaf bandits ambushed them.
Tan said the bandits immediately from to the hinterlands and are being tracked down by government forces.
Hatiman was taken to a hospital in Isabela City, Basilan for treatment. (Sunnex)
