THE King's Sword Martial Arts will hold its 1st Mindanao Invitational Wushu Sanda Championships slated July 15 and 16.

Chief instructor Nell Jone Astudillo, in Thursday's edition of the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao, said the event aims to promote and develop the sport having excelled in various national events like the recent Batang Pinoy 2016 National Championships and the 2017 Palarong Pambansa.

"Nag third overall tayo sa Batang Pinoy and we got the most medals sa lahat ng sport sa Palaro kahit bago pa lang tayo nakapasok," Astudillo, who started scouting talents in the region, said.

The two-day event will cover coaching and officiating course during the first day and competition proper the following day.

Astudillo also assured to include vital aspects including character building, values formation, discipline and spiritual guidance in the coaching and officiating course.

He expects more than 80 athletes coming from Butuan City, Malaybalay City, Valencia City, Digos City, Kidapawan City, General Santos City, Marbel, and Tagum City.

"We also invited DepEd (Department of Education) accredited schools," he said.

The registration fees are P500 (coaching and officiating course) and P350 (players).
