NETIZENS now have the power to send their favorite Miss Universe candidate straight to the semifinal round of the competition.
Miss Universe opened its online voting on Tuesday, January 24, to all pageant fans worldwide.
Fans will be able to cast their votes up to 10 times per day through the pageant's official website, in the Miss Universe app, on Twitter by using the #MissUniverse with the specific hashtag assigned to each country, and by downloading the messaging application Vodi.
Online voting will end on Saturday, January 28.
Meanwhile, netizens will still play a big role during the pageant proper on January 30 to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Fans will be given 10 votes to allocate among their chosen candidates who made it through the seminfinal round. Scores from each pageant judge and home viewers via the Miss Universe Global Fan Vote will be averaged.
From there, the nine ladies who received the highest averaged score will move to the second stage of the competition.
Viewers will get to know each contestants' personal style as they strut the stage in their evening gown of choice.
Scores from the judges and home votes will be averaged again which will then determine the entrants who will make it in the Top 6 of the competition.
The Top 6 ladies will then go through the Final Question round. Each candidate will select a judge at random.
Again, all scores are averaged and the Top 3 contestants move on to the final stage of the competition.
During the Final Look, the judges and viewers are asked to make a decision based on their overall performance. Rather than score, the final segment is ranked based on who they think should win the title.
