A 19-YEAR-OLD special child, who went missing during the flood in Cagayan de Oro City on January 16, was found Tuesday, February 7, in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte.
Reyson Jacinto Puno reunited with his family through Senior Police Officer 2 Drazen Rob Milan Mejias, who saw the missing person notification of Puno posted on Facebook.
Arnel Baba, the president of the Cagayan de Oro Green Eagles club which was one of the organizations that helped spread the missing person notification, said that Puno got lost in the rain on January 16.
According to what he knew from Puno's family, it has been a habit of Puno to take an afternoon stroll alone in the park in front of the Provincial Capitol.
However, that day, because some of the roads to his home in Puntod village were no longer accessible by jeepneys, Puno was probably left stranded in one of the city's terminals. In his eagerness to go home, Puno might have boarded the wrong public utility vehicle and instead ended up in Cabadbaran City.
Puno was made to stay in the police station while authorities searched for his family.
"Aside from the manual search that was done by the family and the authorities over there in Cabadbaran, much can also be credited to the people in the social media sites such as Facebook because it made the search easy," Baba said.
Melche Puno, the brother of the missing teen, used the social media to express his thanks to the support and help given not only by the concerned organizations but also Facebook users who helped spread their notice over the internet.
