MISAMIS Oriental General Comprehensive High School and City Central School dominated the secondary and elementary scrabble competitions of the 21st Milo Little Olympics Mindanao Leg on Saturday at MOGCHS canteen here.
The word wizards from MOGCHS of coach Junelyne Ceballos reigned supreme in secondary division after besting Manolo Fortich National High School in the final of the four-board team scrabble tournament.
The host school’s triumph was anchored by the foursome of Ricardo Inoverto, Kyla Tuto, Rowel Anthony Budiongan and Claude Vincent Ocasla.
In their respective board match ups, Inoverto whipped Angelica Kim Estopia, 464-265 in board one, Tuto over Remark Balendez in board 2, 420-261 and Budiongan over Raizza Victoria Pearl Dumotan in board three, 406-252.
Ocasla prevailed over Josh Villalon in a close board 4 battle, 277-258.
MOGCHS had John Harvey Roa and Hannah Shane Jao as their alternates.
City Central Stingers of coach Maria Estela Enad, on the other hand, ruled the elementary division after sweeping Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School of coach Michelle Bacahon in the final.
The Stingers relied on Ernest Dwayne Enad, Pierce Cyczan Salise, Kathlery Bianca Octat and Marco Angelou Balhon with
Ethan Erick Enad and Willard Daniel Cartagena playing alternates.
In the final, Dwayne outscored Giggs Zapanta, 430-150, in the first board.
Salise bested Zaira Mae Erandio via 279-179 win in board two, while Octat beat Jazylnn Nakeisha Ayuban, 345-137, in board three.
Balhon proved too strong for Aliyah Janille Estillore in board 4, winning with plenty to spare, 421-194.
Jacinto Elpa National High School and Liceo de Cagayan University claimed the third place honors in high school and elementary divisions, respectively.
