A TOTAL of 1,406 traffic personnel was arranged to be deployed in the week-long 32nd Kadayawan sa Dabaw celebration.
Davao City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) Dionisio Abude said they have maximized their personnel by adding force multipliers especially for the big street events such as Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan on August 18 and Pamulak sa Kadayawan on August 19.
"We have prepared 500 personnel for the Indak-Indak, and also 500 for the Pamulak sa Kadayawan," Abude said.
He added that as of Monday, August 14, the San Pedro Street has been already closed for the festival preparations.
Abude said that from August 17 to 20 from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Palma Gil St. will be closed from corner Legaspi St. up to Ponciano St. for the Kaondayawan.
He said that they have already laid plan for road closures for the Kadayawan Parade that will traverse from Magsaysay Avenue left turn to Claro M. Recto Avenue, right turn to Bonifacio St., left turn to Pelayo St., and left turn to San Pedro St.
He advised that motorists take alternate routes on the day of the events.
Those from the north were advised to take the alternate routes: J.P Laurel Ave-Quirino Avenue-McArthur Highway; J.P Laurel Avenue-R. Castillo St.-Leon Garcia Street-Quezon Boulevard, Quimpo Boulevard- McArthur Highway; J.P Laurel Avenue-Cabaguio-L. Garcia St.-Quezon Boulevard- Quimpo Boulevard- McArthur Highway.
Those from the south were also advised to take alternate routes: McArthur Highway-Quirino Avenue-Jose P. Laurel Avenue; McArthur Highway- Magallanes St.-Quezon Boulevard; McArthur Highway-Sandawa Road-Quimpo Boulevard; McArthur Highway-Quimpo Boulevard-Quezon Boulevard. The potential areas for heavy traffic are in Quirino Avenue, Magallanes St., Quezon Boulevard, Ilustre St., and Camus St.
The traffic is expected to be moderate to heavy during the duration of the activities.
Abude assured that their office is all set and prepared to ensure the smooth flow of traffic amidst the festivities.
