SOME 100 participants composed mostly of gays and transgenders converged at the Punta Villa Resort and Convention Center at Arevalo district, Iloilo City for a three-day congress starting August 31 to September 2 and discuss their open empowerment as the third sex and their vital role in the government’s reproductive health law.
Main sponsors are the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP) Iloilo Chapter and the Department of Health (Doh) in a desire to include members of the third sex in discussions concerning their situation and their proper role so as to stem the spread of HIV-Aids in the community.
FPOP Chapter Program Manager Monaliza Diones said the congress will hopefully give important messages to males having sex with males (MSM) and the transgenders (TGs) who wanted to become women.
The youth camp will try to address the HIV and Aids current situation, responsible sexuality, social hygiene and clinic services, health, nutrition and beauty of the participants and the law that gives access to government assistance and programs.
Diones said the youth camp will focus on group action planning and presentation and the search for Mr. and Ms. Sogie 2016. (LCP/Sunnex)
