THE Myrzia's Online Koleksyon emerged the first Cherrylume Basketball Avenue champion after pulling off an 81-62 win over Assumption College of Davao-bannered Mystic Water Philippines Warriors Tuesday evening.
The Rollie Sancho-coached Warriors paraded their star players but Myrzia's Online Koleksyon was not intimidated with collegiate players Eleuterio Abanes and RB Damaolao leading the charge.
Abanes finished with 28 points while Damaolao and Lacadon added 13 and 12, respectively.
"Di namin in-expect to kasi first time kong magbuo ng basketball team. Sobrang saya kasi nagchampion kami despite sa mga talo namin sa eliminations," Myrzia's Koleksyon team owner Mark Ryan Auman told Sun.Star Davao in an interview.
He said that losing to the Emar Red Stags in the final round of elimination somehow affected them, adding, "Pero ngpasalamat kami kasi nakapasok pa kami sa semifinals after namin manalo sa point system tie-break against Mahiwaga and A.E.O. Game Farm kaya dun inayos na namin."
Coach EG Gabanan, meanwhile, said he believed in his players.
"Pinairal lang namin yung teamwork pati tiwala sa mga kasama," Gabanan said.
His team was also bannered by Abanes, Damaolao, Enoc, Lacadon, Bryan Remonsada, Patrick Sanchez, Charles Tirasol, Prince Idhelzin Marabe, Jim Ril Villaflor, Michael Claveria and Floro Hontemara Jr.
The cagefest, sanctioned by Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, will have another edition in January next year.
