THE year-end PXC Laban mixed martial arts (MMA) slated at the Baguio Convention Center is set to pit the best of fighters against each other.
Spearheading the 5th Baguio edition, Delfin Nawen of Team Lakay, currently 5-1 in his pro-am career will put his striking skills to a test as he goes against Safehouse Academy’s John Lloyd Libuit in three-round of action.
“I have prepared in all corners of the fight since I know my opponent has also prepared well for this fight,” Nawen said.
Libuit said he hoped to show Baguio fans what he is made of despite his age with only 5 pro-am fights with no losses.
Coach Jimmy Angana said polishing Libuit’s striking skills with famed Muay Thai fighter Zaidi Laruan joining the team coupled with wrestling expertise which honed take down skills.
Rizalino Olivar, also of Team Lakay La Trinidad will have his skills meted against D’Elements Noy Francisco.
Francisco is no neophyte in Lakay warriors as he earlier faced Olivar’s team mate Jeremy Pacatiw in last year’s PXC Baguio edition.
“Excited ako sa laro na ito, abangan na lang ng mga manonood ang laro namin, hindi ko masasabi ang kaya kong gawin hanggang hindi ako umaapak sa cage, nagbabago kasi lahat pag andun ka na mismo sa laban (I'm excited for this fight. They have to watch out for this. I can't say how far I can do until I step inside the cage. Everything changes when you are in the fight),” Francisco said.
Also in the undercard are Tribal Torogi’s Franklin Donglay and Michael Fangki whose striking talents are up ahgainst Genil Francisco and Dindo Camansa of Cerberus MMA and D’Elements MMA, respectively.
Fight Corps MMA’s ultra striker Lucky Mateo and grappler Dave Banguigui will set off against Jaybe Ban-eg and Estrada Dong-as of Team Lakay La Trinidad Jahn Serbo and Korean Ju Jaehyok of Team Lakay San Fernando is set off to test the mettle of Daryl Bangangao and Xavier Villanueva both from Kafagway MMA.
Opening the night’s bout is Vincent Velaque of Lakay La Trinidad against Eser Wangdali of Kafagway MMA.
“PXC has a good track record of bringing fighters into UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), and we can start scouting for pro fighters in provincial shows like this, since dito natin makikita kung sino ang mga fighters na ready para sa mga international events,” commenced PXC matchmaker Rob San Diego.
