DUMAGUETE CITY – Naga Colleges Foundation (NCF) and Holy Angel University (HAU) of Pampanga turned out to be the best men and women in taekwondo of the 21st University Games (UniGames) held here.
NCF male jins won three gold medals while HAU won two gold medals in the women’s side.
NCF’s Joshua Infeliz beat De La Salle University (DLS)-Araneta’s Kreigler Cedro in 54-kg weight while Seth Macaraig of De La Salle (DLS)-Lipa and Joshua Mangibunog of University of Mindanao (UM)-Davao took the bronze medals.
John Meller Leosala also took the gold medal in 54-58 kilograms over Bacolod City-based Riverside College bet Julian Ceasar Gargoles. Joshua Nera of DLS-Lipa and University of Immaculate Concepcion (UIC) settled for bronze medals.
Jason Sta. Ana took over the 80 kg division, stopping Rodney Plana of Riverside College and Bien Francis Osmeña of University of Mindanao (UM) who won the bronzes. Efren Garcia of HAU snatched the gold in 58-63 kilograms over Hanns Labitan of DLS-Lipa while Martin Sintones of DLS-Araneta and Rey Grabulan of UIC were bronze medalists.
Samson Gopez of HAU won the 63-68 kg. over Jethro Cedro of DLS-Lipa, while Dennis Majarlino of NCF and Davie John Escala of UM -Davao took the bronze medals.
Anton Guinanao of Riverside College won the gold in 68-74 kilograms over Jaime Bianzon of DLS-Lipa while Darwin Tolentino of HAU and Julian Mefragata of UM-Davao brought home bronze medals. Bryan Tayongtong of UM won the gold in 74-80 kg over Mon Alden Estrada of UIC. Ivon Devilla of Riverside College settled for bronze.
In the women’s division, Almarie Lingat of HAU won the gold in 57-62 kilograms against Shyla Jesuro of Cor Jesu College and teammate Rose Guevarra topped the 67 kg group over Annalou Silvosa of UM.
Chelsia Banez of DLS-Araneta dominated the under 64 kg. over Kimsy Villanueva of Cor Jesu College while Marbille Bercasio of NCF and Ma. Celina Gilmo of DLS-Lipa won the bronze.
Honey Albania of Cor Jesu College won the 46-49 kg. over Georgina Cortez of NCF while Daoden Clomata of UM-Davao and Micah Taopo of DLS-Lipa took the bronze medals.
Janine de Leon of NCF prevailed in 49-53 kilograms over Jasmine Catacutan of HAU while Portia Pasana of UM and Sam Galea of UIC bagged the bronze medals.
Princess Delis of DLS-Lipa won the gold in 53-57 kilograms over Daisy Rei Camello of Cor Jesu College while Daisy Sotomayor of UIC and Rachelle Medina of NCF settled for the bronzes. (HGD)
