Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. Monday 17, said he will act on the resignation of Provincial Agriculturist Igmedio Tabianan soon as he is bent on accepting his resignation.
Tabianan submitted his resignation letter to Marañon on March 29 after he was slapped a 60-day suspension by the governor for alleged administrative offenses of grave misconduct and malversation of public funds.
He cited personal reasons and more time for his family for his resignation.
Maranon said that Tabianan, who has served the province for more than 25 years, will get benefits such as terminal leave credits and claims from the Government Service Insurance System.
On the cases filed against Tabianan, the investigation is ongoing, he added.
Among the violations Tabianan allegedly committed was that he allowed his close subordinate Ariel Tuvilla to take half of the salary of job order employee Kenneth Abaring for the months of February to May in 2016.
Last year, the Commission on Audit issued two notices of disallowance to Tabianan for the P299,000 amount spent for the fertilizer project in 2013 and the P239,805.80 for the various vegetable seeds program in 2014.
Tabianan had already settled the first disallowed amount.
