THE Negros Occidental secondary boys boxers won with a pair of gold medals, two silvers, and two bronzes in the just-concluded 2017 Palarong Negros Island Region (NIR) in Dumaguete City.
Joshua Condez of Negros Occidental defeated Bacolod City’s Jastine Novero to capture the gold medal in the mosquito weight (40kg.) category as Bago City’s Joshua Monterosa settled for bronze.
Vincent Bullor, also from Negros Occidental, conquered Escalante City’s Smith Huila to rule the light paper weight (42kg.) as Emmanual Siplao of Bacolod City finished bronze.
Meanwhile, Negros Occidental’s Jie Ar Calonia settled for silver after losing in the finals of light mosquitoweight (36kg-38kg.) division against eventual gold medalist Allen Dorimon of Escalante City as Bago City’s John Michael Tizon and Oliver Genit of Bacolod City shared the bronze medals.
In the pin weight (44kg.-46kg.) category, Christian Leo Genit of Bacolod City dominated Joenel Francisco of Negros Occidental in the finals as Jan Kenneth Beronio of Negros Oriental and Christian Mark Bughaw of Dumaguete City finished with a bronze each.
Bago City’s Jereme Puig ruled the light flyweight (46kg.-49kg.) division after beating John Bryan Pabracuer of San Carlos City in the finals as Joseph Novero of Bacolod City and Joemarie Lacio settled for silver each. (HGD)
