THE Provincial Government granted scholarships to 70 more students for school year 2017-2018 under the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program (NOSP).
On Wednesday, April 19, the 70 students signed a memorandum of agreement with Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. in rites held at the Capitol Social Hall.
Included are 49 under the Indigenous Peoples Scholarship Category, 15 under the Degree Completion Scholarship; three under the Provincial Educational Assistance for Capitol Employees Category, and three under the Negros Occidental Provincial Medical and Nursing Scholarship-Medicine Category.
Karen Dinsay, head of the Negros Occidental Scholarship Division, said the Capitol has now 374 scholars, including the latest 70 grantees.
Marañon said he wishes the new grantees well as they pursue their respective degrees.
The NOSP is one of the successful programs of the Provincial Government and is an effective tool at improving the quality of life of underprivileged students, the governor said.
Marañon also asked the parents to support the studies of their children and to always pray for guidance.
During the program, NOSP scholars who graduated with honors this year were also given recognition.
