THE Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) recognized the outstanding police stations, policemen, and supporters of the Philippine National Police during the culmination of the 22nd Police Community Relations Month on Monday, July 31.
The awarding ceremony was held at Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) headquarters in Camp Alfredo Montelibano Sr., Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City.
Chief Superintendent Leonardo Cesneros, deputy regional director for administration of PRO-NIR, was assisted by Senior Superintendent Rolando Miranda, chief of regional directorial staff of PRO-NIR, in giving out the tokens and plaques for the awardees.
The awardees for most outstanding police office and stations were Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo), Kabankalan City Police Station in Negros Occidental, and Siaton Municipal Police Station in Negros Oriental.
Bacolod City Police Station 5 Head Sherlock Gabana was recognized as outstanding senior police commissioned officer while Senior Inspector Joy Ellaga, deputy chief of Victorias City Police Station, was awarded outstanding junior police commissioned officer.
Senior Police Officer 1 Jan Gallo of Sibulan Municipal Police Station in Negros Oriental and Police Officer 3 Feliciano Sumogat III of Police Station 3 in Bacolod City were awarded outstanding senior and junior non-commissioned officers, respectively.
Senior Inspector Armilyn Vargas, public information of PRO-NIR, and Senior Police Officer 1 Dyesebel Celis of Tanjay City Police Station received the awards for outstanding commissioned officer while Lara Flynn Barot of Norppo was awarded outstanding non-uniformed personnel in the field of public information.
Awarded most supportive local government units were the Province of Negros Occidental headed by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., San Carlos City headed by Mayor Gerardo Valmayor Jr., and Pontevedra town headed by Mayor Jose Benito Alonso.
Meanwhile, Gilbert Bayoran of The Visayan Daily Star and Pastor Enrique Cansino, spiritual coordinator of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), were awarded most supportive media practitioner and most supportive religious personality, respectively.
Lawyer Joseph Celis, regional director of National Police Commission, who was the guest of honor and speaker, said both the police and the community need to keep on working together to attain peace and development.
