Nine Bacolod paddlers invited to US tourney

NINE Bacolod City-based table tennis players were invited to the 19th World Veteran Championship Table Tennis Tournament from June 18 to 24 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

In a furnished communication signed by Gordon Kaye, CEO of USA Table Tennis, the governing body of this sport in United States, said those invited in the tournament are Monico Puentevella Jr., Jorge Salustiano Carpintero, Inilpredo Rafael Granada, Arvin John Villaruel, Alberto Dichavez, Alexander Go, Rudy Sy, Jose Ernie Carpintero and Mucius Gindap.

The event is the largest table tennis tournament in the world which has recorded the most number of participants at 4,600 paddlers during the 2016 WVC held in Spain. This year, organizers are looking forward for a bigger participation of some 5,000 players from 82 countries.

The WVC is open to all interested players aged 40 years and over or who will reach their 40th birthday during the year the event takes place or who will reach the age of 40 during the course of the months after the event (from June until December 2018).

The tournament is governed by the International Table Tennis Federation.
