CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Two good news for denizens who can't help but commute or drive to this city as the Christmas season approaches.
First: The widening of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) from Sta. Rita to San Fernando is scheduled to be completed on December 15, in time for the holiday rush.
Second: Some P287 million has been allotted by the Manila North Tollway Corporation (MNTC) for the enhancement of the San Fernando interchange, a huge undertaking that will vastly improve infrastructure in that area.
These two projects, which complement each other, will improve traffic movement in the area, among others.
The projects have been lauded as timely and proactive by businessmen and other stakeholders in the city and province and other nearby communities.
Levy Laus, chairman emeritus of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PamCham), has expressed elation over these developments.
“These have been the subject of meetings for over two years with PamCham, officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways and local leaders,” he said. “We're glad that they are finally becoming realities.”
PamCham, a staunch advocate of countryside development and decongestion of Metro Manila, has been in the forefront of the government and private sector partnership for development and progress in Pampanga and Central Luzon.
“It's consistent with our slogan to be a catalyst of business and economic expansion growth,” Laus said. (NCS)
