THE Golden State Warriors shoot pass the Houston Rockets, 124-114, despite the absence of Kevin Durant due to a calf injury he sustained during the match against the Dallas Mavericks.
It was a close and a high scoring game from the first quarter as both teams were terrific from the field, shooting at high percentages. The Rockets ended the quarter with a lead, 37-33, despite not having James Harden who is sustaining a hamstring injury. Stephen Curry had 11 and Eric Gordon had 13.
In the second quarter, the Rockets launched a 13-4 run. However, the Warriors answered back with a 10-2 run and ended the quarter with a deep 3-point shot courtesy of Klay Thompson. Rockets still had the lead, 63-62.
In the early minutes of the third quarter, it was a back and forth game with both teams doing smart and effecient plays.
The warriors had 20 assists in the eight minute mark of the quarter courtesy of an assist from Dreymond Green to Andre Igoudala for a dunk.
Rockets had the opportunity to push the lead into double digits Gerald Green, Chris Paul, and Gordon were shooting the lights out from the field.
But the Golden State always had an answer either through a quick play, fast breaks, or some three's of their own. The quarter ended with the Warriors leading 93-90.
Golden State head coach Steve Kerr played most of his bench in the beginning of the fourth quarter which led his team to push their lead to 10, forcing the Houston to take a timeout.
Green was shooting the lights as he made seven 3-pointers in the game. But the Warriors showed them how a defending Champion plays.
Golden State had answers through their smart and quick plays and relied on each other as they were still racking up the assists. They were also shooting lights out from the 3-point line courtesy of Thompson and Curry.
The game ended with the score 124-114 with Curry and Thompson combining for 57 points. Curry had 29 and Klay with 28.
Green was also excellent in the game having a triple double with 17 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists.
For the Rockets, Gordon scored 30 points and was helped by Green, who had 29 points.
