THE military is closely monitoring persons of interests in Central Visayas in the light of the ongoing clash between government troops and the Maute terror group, a military official said Tuesday, May 30.
Colonel Medel Aguilar, of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Central Command assistant chief of the unified staff for civil military operations, however, assured the public that "there is no imminent threat" against lawless elements in the region.
"Meron tayong binabantayan pero wala tayong nakita na suspicious in their actions to send us in a panic mode. There is no imminent threat," Aguilar said during the 888 News Forum.
The AFP Centcom is the military's arm in combating terrorism and insurgency in the region.
Aguilar assured the public that there is no cause for alarm and that they are doing their best to prevent any spillover from any terrorists in Central Visayas, together with the Muslim Community. (JOB)
