THE municipal government of Badian, Cebu ordered the indefinite suspension of rafting activities at the Kawasan Falls starting on the first day next year after a tourist lodged a complaint against rafting operators, drivers and guides.

Mayor Carmencita Lumain ordered rafting concessionaires and providers to terminate their operations and to pull out their rafts and other gear from the Kawasan falls.

Benjamin Ang Wee Keong, a Singaporean student, filed the complaint before the municipality.

The town has received several complaints against rafting operators, drivers and guides.

Lumain cited Sangguniang Bayan Resolution 445-2017, which recommends her to take proper action against those involved in illegal practice.

Other activities, such as swimming with a life vest and canyoneering, are still allowed. (JKV)
