IZA Calzado shared she’s not yet engaged to boyfriend Ben Wintle and she's keen to focus on her showbiz career this year.
In an interview with the Kapamilya actress at the "Ilawod" press conference, her latest horror movie opposite Ian Veneracion, she clarified that no engagement took place when she joined Wintle's family during the holidays in England and Switzerland.
She said the trip was all about taking a short break from work and reconnecting with her boyfriend's family.
"Ang saya kasi first time kong nag ski, first time kong mag celebrate ng Christmas sa malamig na lugar. It was such a wonderful experience."
Asked if she sees herself getting engaged this year to Wintle, her boyfriend of five years, Calzado's immediate response was "Malapit na. Kapit lang. Hindi naman tayo nagmamadali kasi nag-iipon pa naman tayo."
According to the star, she is more welcoming of the idea that she will settle down soon.
Calzado said they talk about it but the wedding will not happen in 2017.
"Mas ready na ako ngayon. Tinatanggap ko na. Pinag-uusapan na and malalaman ninyo yan one day. I'm also not getting any younger."
"It will happen soon enough. People get married because they want to have a baby right away. I don't want to have a baby right away."
She added that even Wintle is not in a hurry to settle down and start a family.
The actress said they are very busy with their respective careers and they both agreed that they prefer to have kids later on in the marriage.
"Before lagi akong magpaparinig na I'm not yet ready. Hindi din siya nagmamadali kasi ang focus din niya ay yung Booky (food and restaurant mobile application). And pinag-usapan namin na we are not in a hurry to have kids naman. So, what's the hurry for the wedding."
Calzado said 2017 is looking good so far.
Aside from her primetime series "A Love To Last" on ABS-CBN, she will also star in two movies, "Ilawod" directed by Dan Villegas, and a psycho thriller coming out in May.
The actress said she's in the best moment of her career and wouldn't take it for granted.
"Marami pa and malayo pa ang gusto kong manyari. Marami pa akong pelikula na gusto kong gawin, marami pa akong roles na gusto kong gampanan, I'd like to do a play this year, and to study," she ended.
