AN ESCAPEE from Negros Occidental District Jail (NODJ) in Bago City was recaptured at Pamplona town, Negros Oriental on Monday afternoon.

Jail Officer 2 Juniven Rey Umadhay, public information officer of Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-Negros Island Region (BJMP-NIR), said on Tuesday that Vercilito Capulong was recaptured by Jail Officer 1 Ana Marie Cadalso of Mabinay Municipal District Jail just before 2 p.m.

Cadalso approached Capulong, but the latter tried to run away that led to a scuffle. Bystanders called for police assistance. Both of them sustained minor scratches.

Capulong was subdued by police officers and was brought to Tanjay City District Jail.

Umadhay said Capulong will be transferred to Metro Bacolod District Jail-Male Dormitory Annex in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City today, August 9.

Capulong escaped from NODJ with Ramon Ventura Jr. by jumping from the wall behind the jail into a vacant lot in April.

Ventura was recaptured at Barangay Buenavista, Murcia town a day after their escape after sending surrender feelers through his relatives.

He was moved to the MBDJ-Special Intensive Care Area at Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City. (GYM)
