WHETHER one is aiming to achieve that beach body goal or to stay fit, working out has been part of almost everyone’s daily routine as it is the key to living a healthy and well-balanced life. The wonders it does to one’s body include improving one’s sleep quality, mood and energy level.
Finding the fitness regimen one actually likes helps one stick to it. Here’s a list of different fitness options in the city that one might find pretty interesting.
Spinning. Indoor cycling is a cardiovascular and low-impact workout designed to increase strength and endurance. It focuses on high intensity and intervals that involve aerobic exercises on a stationary bicycle in a classroom setting. One of the city’s coolest fitness centers, Zink offers a spinning party that one would want to get into. With its fascinating neon lights, upbeat music, and of course the “yummy instructors” (as what they like to be called), one would surely pedal the extra carbs and the pain of working out away. To reserve a slot, one may call (032) 233-1099.
Sultry Dancing. Keeping its promise to take away the “work” in workout, Zink came up with a unique, exciting and sexier Zumba dance called “White Shirt Tease.” This can help firm and trim the belly, legs and buttocks, and helps in boosting one’s confidence. Participants are asked to wear a white shirt, preferably paired with shorts, to make them look and feel sexier. Participants then get to try sexy dance moves choreographed by Jun CB like dancing on a chair. Join its class every Tuesday, 7:30 p.m. at Zink located in Gov. Cuenco Ave., Banilad, Cebu City.
Aqua Zumba. Working out in the water is one of the most therapeutic activities one can get into. Combining water and Zumba is more fun, thrilling and beneficial. With the same steps with typical Zumba dance like cha-cha, salsa, mambo, merengue and reggaeton, Aqua Zumba helps build strength, resistance and cardio while being easy on the joints. It is also a good option for pregnant women or anyone recovering from an injury.
Join the wave this Sept. 9 led by coaches Franz, Keith and Kessiah at Citigym, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino. Contact (032) 232-6888 for more details.
Bikram Yoga. One should also train his mind and spirit for a well-balanced life. Bikram Yoga is a hot yoga style featuring the same Asana series of postures, including two people breathing ideally in a room heated to 40 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 40 percent to help promote sweating, increase one’s pulse rate and metabolism, and warm up the body to increase flexibility with less risk of injury. This makes one’s body burn some major calories. Bikram Yoga Cebu, located on the second floor of The Greenery, is the first official bikram studio in the Visayas.
This Nov. 1 to 5, Bikram Yoga Cebu, led by its director and owner Tracy Sacan, is inviting everyone to join its first yoga retreat in Siargao. The retreat includes a posture clinic, a sunset cruise on a luxury boat, a day trip to a nearby island where yoga classes and surf lessons will be held and more.
