THE Office of the Building Official (OBO) in Bacolod City warned business establishment owners operating their businesses without occupancy permits.
Engineer Isidro Sun Jr., head of OBO, on Sunday, August 6, said he was informed that some of these establishments are in the downtown area.
“Those who will be found operating without occupancy permit will be fined P8,000,” he said.
Sun admitted that they lack personnel, but they are doing their best to inspect all business establishments.
OBO deployed an inspection team composed of seven personnel.
Sun said the newly-constructed or renovated business establishment cannot operate without an occupancy permit.
“The engineers should follow their plan during the construction to avoid changes or correction so that they can get an occupancy permit after the construction,” he added.
Business establishment owners can get the occupancy permit within 10 days if they have complete documents.
For the non-compliant, OBO will issue first to third notices of violations, then the notice will be forwarded to the City Legal Office for the filing of charges against the owners.
