AFTER a successful initial staging of his Online Basketball Training Camp here at the Lapasan covered court, founder Mark Anthony Tallo vowed to stage a basketball tournament for young cagers in the city.

During the closing of his four-day camp, Tallo announced that he is finalizing with his local partners and sponsors to stage the tournament for Under-15 and Under-12 players.

“Cagayan de Oro has so much talent. You just need more tournaments here to hone up the skills of your players,” said the former PBA star and national team player from Cebu City.

He envisions the tournament like his Online Basketball League which has been going on in in the Queen City of the South for sometime now. “This will also be an opportunity to discover talents and give them opportunities to get scholarships from Cebu or Manila schools,” he added.

Although he was in Cagayan de Oro for only four days, Tallo managed to recruit three tall and talented players for his Cebu Eastern College (CEC) high school team.

Tallo is the head of the CEC basketball program. CEC won the Cesafi High School title during its initial appearance with in the Cesafi junior division in 2010.

Cesafi is the premier collegiate and high school league in Cebu. The team was then supported by CEC’s top alumnus Chester Cokaliong.

Tallo’s Online Basketball Training Camp which attracted more than 40 players from Northern Mindanao, started last June 7 and ended Saturday afternoon. He also vowed to stage another training camp here in December.
