OPLAN Bulabog, a simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Terrorism Operations jointly conducted by the local security forces in Davao City, collared a total of 182 wanted personalities with standing warrants of arrest since it was launched May last year.
In his report during the City Peace and Order Council on Thursday at Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) city director Police Senior Superintendent Alexander Tagum said that their Oplan Bulabog has contributed in the increase of apprehension of wanted personalities lurking in the city.
Last year, they’ve arrested 840 wanted individuals from January to February 2017 while in 2016 they recorded 508 and a total of 638 in 2015.
“This remarkable improvement in the manhunt operations of DCPO has contributed to the decrease of social deviants roaming our city streets; thus, the improved peace and order situation in our city as compared to the previous years in review,” Tagum said.
Tagum cited that their regular operation was an effective counter-terrorism and manhunt operations strategy which has scored major accomplishment in maintaining the peace and order in the city.
The have so far conducted a total of 25 activities through the conduct of 425 simultaneous operations city-wide that resulted to the individual identification or background check of 28,879 local informal residents living in our urban slum communities and 3,672 of which was not able to produce identification documents. They also profiled 51 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Marawi City.
Oplan Bulabog was developed in the aftermath of the Marawi attack last May 23, 2017 to dismantle any formation of terrorist group in the city and prevent possible spillover.
Meanwhile, on their Community Empowerment Drive or Target Hardening referred to as Oplan Fortress which is a strategy to draw out community support to crime prevention campaign from December to present, they recorded a total of 425 pulong-pulong or Ronda Patrol Training with 43,636 participants.
With these efforts, the crime volume in Davao city has gone down from 13,720 in 2015 and 10,269 in 2016 to 7,576 in 2017.
