BUSINESS establishments in the City of San Fernando that are not paying proper taxes will still be closed even this Yuletide Holiday.
This, as the implementation of the Oplan Kandado program will continue for the whole month of December.
The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Region IV (RR-4) is set to close a couple more establishments in Central Luzon just before the year ends.
BIR RR-4 Director Jethro Sabarriaga said that surveillance of possible delinquent tax payers is currently ongoing.
He added that the "Oplan Kandado" campaign aims to weed out companies that do not pay proper taxes and level the business playing field in favor of business who are compliant with tax laws.
The regional director said they would ask the national office to conduct closures even during the Yuletide season to maintain the momentum of the tax drive.
Sabarriaga added that "Oplan Kandado" is an initiative of the BIR that aims to intensify the Bureau's enforcement operations through strict imposition of prescribed administrative sanctions for non-compliance with the basic tax requirements.
The BIR is doubling its efforts this year-end to meet collection targets. Sabarriaga added that it would be beneficial to hit the goal as there would be rewards for the region that would help in further improving collections and correction.
