TWO months after a leader of an organized crime group in Negros Occidental was arrested, one of its members was also apprehended by police at Purok 4, Barangay Elihan in Cauayan town on May 1.
Chief Inspector Ruben Pajarito, town police chief, identified the suspect as Christian Trinidad, 18.
Trinidad was arrested by operatives who were conducting visibility patrol operations around 5 p.m.
He attempted to escape, but was subdued by police who recovered from him a magazine of 9mm caliber pistol with four live ammunition.
Pajarito said Trinidad was also one of the suspects in the series of robbery and hold-up incidents in the town.
Trinidad was released from detention Tuesday, May 2 after the prosecutor did not accept the complaint filed by the police against him yet.
The case will fall under regular filing, Pajarito added.
Last March 1, Ritching Villanueva, 35, of Purok 2, Barangay Baclao, Cauayan town was arrested at Bangga Aning, Barangay Pahanocoy in Bacolod City that led to the recovery of a .45 caliber pistol, a silencer, two magazines, and nine live ammunition.
Villanueva was served with an arrest warrant for attempted murder by joint operatives of Cauayan Municipal Police Station and personnel of Police Station 8 in the city. He was identified as leader of an organized crime group in the province.
His arrest warrant issued by Judge Rodney Magbanua of Regional Trial Court Branch 61 in Kabankalan City, stemming from his involvement in a robbery incident in 2015.
