CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno is out of the country to attend a United Nations-sponsored conference on open and inclusive global economy from today, October 17 to October 21 in Vienna, Austria.
Vice Mayor Raineir Joaquin "Kikang" Uy is the city’s acting mayor while Councilor Zaldy Ocon is acting vice mayor until Moreno returns to the country on October 24.
Moreno is joining leaders of more than 80 cities from around the world for the One Belt, One Road Inclusive and Sustainable City Exhibition and Dialogue at the headquarters of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (Unido).
The initiative aims to promote an open and inclusive global economy by building cohesive regional trade networks and enhancing connectivity for future growth and will serve as a platform for cooperation among all nations involved, offering increased opportunities for sustainable industrial development.
In its website, the Unido said the event will feature a week-long exhibition, a high-level forum, study tours, and a thematic workshop, as well as city-level and sector-specific matchmaking in the area of green technology, all of which will serve as a platform for cities and enterprises to showcase their successes and exchange experiences.
“We aim to mobilize the participation of as many cities and enterprises as well as other UN partner, to enhance international understanding of individual development successes and challenges and attract outside investment, thereby speeding up the process of inclusive and sustainable industrialization,” the Unido said.
