AN OFFICIAL of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) said Tuesday, May 2, the public can expect better police mobilization and efficiency following the transfer of their headquarters in Claro M. Recto Avenue to the new building in Barangay 40.
Cocpo spokesman Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa II said there have been no major changes after the transfer.
Several units of Cocpo started moving to the new facility on Tuesday including the administration, logistics, police community relations unit, investigation, tourist police, and patrol unit.
Hortillosa said top Cocpo officials will also transfer to the new 1,000-square meter building near the city health office.
He said the City Public Safety Company (CPSC), intelligence, operation, detention center and other units will remain at the old headquarters in Carmen village.
"Naay prisohan sa bag-o nga building pero sa pagkakaron didto lang sa gihapon sa Carmen ang prisohan (There is a prison cell in the new building but for now, the detainees will remain in Barangay Carmen)," Hortillosa said.
The Cocpo spokesman said the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division (RLRDD) of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao has already given the go signal for the transfer.
The P20-million facility was finished in 2013 but the police and the city government failed to hasten the installation of electricity and water facilities that caused the delay of the transfer.
The City Government released the P2.5 million budget last October 2016 intended for the electrical and water connection.
Hortillosa said Cocpo will be having a sub-meter for power supply from Barangay 40 while the City Government is hastening the installation of electricity and water supply.
"Naa lang gamay nga problema kay wala pa tay internet ug naa gyud gamay kahago kung naay papirmahan kay ang uban toa man sa Carmen (There's a small problem, we don't have internet connections. There will also be a little bit of hassle in process since some of the departments are still in Barnagay Carmen)," Hortillosa said.
The Cocpo spokesman assured the public they will improved their quality of service by maintaining the peace and order in the city.
