CAGAYAN de Oro City’s ace netter Francis Casey Alcantara and his Indian partner Karunuday Singh advanced to the quarterfinals of the ongoing US$ 15,000 F1 Hong Kong Futures men’s doubles in Hong Kong.
This, after the no. 2 seed pair of Alcantara and Singh bested Dave Sebastian Mosqueda of Cagayan de Oro and his teammate Alester Magalit of the host country in two sets, 6-3 and 6-3, on Tuesday’s first round of the men’s doubles.
The 25-year-old Alcantara and Singh will face Japanese foes Yutaro Matsuzaki and Masato Shiga in the next round.
To his consolation, the 20-year-old Mosqueda joins Alcantara in the main draw of men’s singles after making the cut in the qualifying draw.
Mosqueda defeated Hong Kong’s Ryan Jiu Nguy, 6-1, 6-3 in the last round of the qualifying games.
Mosqueda is paired against seeded no.4 He Yecong of China in the first round of the main draw.
Seeded no. 5 Alcantara, on the other hand, will take on Tomohiro Masabayashi of Japan in their opening game.
