OVER 130 participants joined the 10th Scientific Basketball Leaning Center (SBL) Summer Camp Basketball Clinic that opened Monday at the Montaña Recreation and Fitness Center, Incorporated along Dacudao Avenue in Agdao, Davao City.

Training camp director Matt Cubero, in an interview with VoxPop Davao yesterday, said participants from ages seven to 18 years old including out of school youth (OSY), elementary and high school students registered in one of the longest-running basketball clinics in Davao City.

"This program is open to all interested boys or girls participants. Since we already started on April 17 and for those who still wish to sign up may contact us and we will deduct P200 on each day they missed," Cubero said.

He is assisted by Ford Academy of Arts (FAA) head coach Bambino "Bambie" Santander, Emar Human and Environmental College (Ehec) head coach Arturo "Jun-Jun" Montalban, Jose Maria College (JMC) assistant coach Nick Serafica, Agro Industrial Foundation College of the Philippines (AIFC) head coach Arman Villanueva and assistant coach Johnzon Valenzona.

Categories entered are level one (7-11 years-old), level two (12-14 years-old) and level three (15-18 years-old).

During the camp, participants were introduced to different approach of basketball including the basics of the game - proper shooting execution, lay-up, offense and defense.

"We also teach them ball handling and building their confidence," the veteran coach said, adding that character building and discipline are integral in their program.

After the seven-day long basketball camp, participants will be evaluated through drills. A closing program is set on April 26.

The P2,500 registration fee will cover the seven-session training, top jersey and a ball.
