AS OF Wednesday, December 20, the Davao City Business Bureau has recorded 41,164 businesses with permits in the city, a big chunk of which belonging to the retailing sector.
During the Ispeak press conference yesterday, December 21, Business Bureau officer-in-charge attorney Marissa Torentera said this is much higher from the estimated 2016 number of 36,000 to 38,000 businesses.
“Davao City is really booming so a lot of investors really come to Davao City to invest. Of course with the president of the Philippines coming from Davao City that is also a factor for the increase of businesses here in the city. This is one factor that entices them to invest here,” Torentera said.
Similar to this year, a big chunk of the businesses last year also comprised of those belonging to the retailing sector.
Torentera added they are currently studying the possibilities of having an online business application. However, what they deemed to be the most challenging part is the interview portion of the application.
“If we do online application, we are also considering how we are going to go about with the interview portion. Normally, those that apply to us are not really the owners of the business instead they have their representatives or their liaison officers. That’s why the interview portion is really crucial,” she said.
She also calls on to businesses owners in the city to not wait for the last minute to have their permits renewed. The Business Bureau will have a simultaneous One-stop Shop schedule intended for business permits renewal at City Council Bldg. and Kadayawan Hall of NCCC Mall from January 2 until January 20.
Here is a list of the operation schedule which applies to both venues:
January 2 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
January 3 to 5 (8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.)
January 6 and 7 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
January 8 to 12 (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
January 13 and 14 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
January 15 to 19 (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
January 20 (8 a.m. to 10 p.m.).
