THE recently-concluded Ateneo Reunion Cup (ARC), which was held at the Fr. Martinex Sports Complex, Ateneo de Davao University (Addu) Matina, raised about P100,000.
ARC commissioner Kenneth Bermudez, in a Facebook interview with VoxPop Davao, said the program was initiated by former Blue Knights coach Miguel Solitaria, who is currently part of the De La Salle University (DLSU) coaching staff, to raise funds that will serve as a scholarship for selected varsity players of Addu.
"Actually, kay coach Miggy yan before. Since nag-assistant coach na siya sa DLSU, gusto naming ipatuloy," Bermudez said, adding that three varsity players will benefit the scholarship including Janilo Rubiato II, Vande Alagao and Paolo Antonio.
The proceeds were raised from the 37 teams who joined the friendly reunion basketball league for former Addu basketball varsity players.
The registration of each team was pegged at P15,000 that covered all expenses of the entire duration of the league.
Bermudez, meanwhile, cited the extended efforts of past and current coaches including Solitaria, Mark Bonifacio, Harry Hipolito, Raphael Claveria, Jess Evangelio and Enzo Nitorreda, who continue to inspire the athletes to became good leaders on and off the court.
