AN ESTIMATED P1.4 million white crystalline substance believed to be shabu were confiscated from a six-month pregnant woman and her cohort in Mandaue City at 12:30 a.m. Friday, April 6.
The suspects were identified as Barbara May Fernandez and Raniel Murillo Garrido who were arrested in a rented apartment at Fourth Abellana Extension in Barangay Basak, Superintendent Glenn Mayam, Drug Enforcement Group (DEG)-Central Visayas chief said.
Seized were around 125 grams of white crystals believed to be methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu with an estimated drugs board value of P1.4 million.
Fernandez, also known as Bam-Bam, had been identified as one of the big-time distributor of illegal drugs in the cities of Cebu and Mandaue.
Cebu City Police Office had listed her as a high value target.
The police are investigating Garrido and his extent of involvement in the illegal drug trade.
The operation was jointly done by the personnel of DEG national headquarters, Regional Intelligence Division-Central Visayas, DEG-Central Visayas, Provincial Intelligence Branch and Mandaue City Police Station 3.
The drug bust was under the supervision of Chief Superintendent Albert Ignatius Ferro, DEG director.
Suspects will be facing complaints for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
